Dallas GiveCamp Volunteer Opportunity

(Help a Non Profit Organization and Earn PDUs!)

Click here to register and for more information   Registration ends Friday, August 23rd

Participate as a Project Manager or Business Analyst during the 2019 Dallas GiveCamp event.  This is a national organization that matches business and technical professionals (developers, designers, project managers and business analysts) with non-profits that are seeking assistance in raising their charities to the next level by completing weekend projects focused on activities like building/enhancing their web presence, enabling new capabilities or optimizing their approach to how they provide services.

As a PM, you will work closely with a team that consists of a developer, a designer, and a charity representative to drive the project to success. As a Business Analyst (BA), you will be responsible for gathering the requirements for the charity project and assisting with providing direction to the team during the event weekend (October 11th-13th).  A critical aspect of the planning and coordination effort will be to ensure that the requirements are “doable” by the team during the event weekend.

By registering for this awesome opportunity to give back, you will participate in the following:

  • Dallas GiveCamp Boot Camp - Wednesday, August 28th 6:30-8:00pm
Introduction and overview to the weekend event, expectations, next steps and
          an overview the charities

  • Dallas GiveCamp Kickoff- Tuesday, October 1st  6:30-8:00pm
Opportunity to meet your team and the charity representative for your project to
dig deeper into the planning and coordination effort in-person

  • Dallas GiveCamp Weekend- Friday, October 11th 5:30pm (arrival) to Sunday 2:30pm (final presentations)
Time for the big show! Teams execute their weekend project plans and make
magic happen! At the end of the weekend, Teams will present their before and
after summaries of the work completed. Target is to complete by early afternoon
          depending upon when presentations complete.

***Note:  You do break in the evenings and return the next morning.

All events are at:
     nThrive
     5543 Legacy Drive
     Plano, TX  75024

Murali Ramdas, the FWPMI RCC Director has participated in this opportunity in the past and here is his feedback, “It was great to be part of a team in quick time and collaborate to deliver something together that was needed by our customer organization. The entire weekend of activities was fun and rewarding.”

You can earn 1 PDU for each hour that you volunteer for this event and the chapter will file them for you up to 25 hours per 3 year reporting cycle (note – maximum is up to 17 if you report 8 for working as a practitioner).

This is also a great way to participate in PMI’s 50th Anniversary Global Celebration of Service and help PMI members meet their goal of 100,000 volunteer hours this year!

Ronald McDonald House Community Outreach

Several FWPMI chapter members spent their Saturday preparing a meal for families at the Fort Worth Ronald McDonald House.  As true project managers, they had several meetings during May and June to plan the meal, purchasing the supplies, and the day of service activities.  As you can see by the pictures, they had a great time and there was plenty of food for the families staying at the house to enjoy a nice meal that evening and to have left overs the next day.  With money left over, they were able to donate multiple items on the RMH Wish list.
